Mugger targets women in the Bronx

BRONX So far he has attacked at least three women in as many days.

In each case, the suspect targeted women who were alone, and police say he became more violent and target older women each time that he attacked.

The first crime was captured on surveillance video.

The man snuck up on a 44-year-old woman as she waited for an elevator inside a building on Valentine Avenue on January 6. She fought back, kicking him. He ran off without getting anything.

The suspect struck again the next night at 10:30 on Strong Street. In this case, he assaulted a 57-year-old woman in her apartment and took her handbag.

The third crime happened on January 9 at 5:35 p.m. He assaulted a 62-year-old woman in her apartment on Creston Avenue. Again, he got away with her handbag.

Police say the suspect is a Hispanic man in his late teens or early 20s. Police said he may be responsible for other muggings in the neighborhood in the Norwood section of the Bronx.
