WC woman charged in ID theft spree

DOBBS FERRY Police say 40-year-old Alexandra Pierre targeted area health clubs, medical facilities and colleges where she would steal wallets or the credit cards within. She would then use these cards to purchase luxury items, including designer shoes and handbags, or gift cards to be used at a later date, according to prosecutors.

Pierre was arrested Monday by county police detectives inside New York Medical College in Valhalla, where she was allegedly walking the halls in a stolen white lab coat. Authorities say she was wearing a lanyard around her neck with an ID card made to look like a legitimate college ID.

Students at the medical college had been victimized previously by a thief who stole wallets and credit cards from unattended pocketbooks.

Police, who executed a search warrant at Pierre's home, recovered $47,000 in merchandise, including a pair of diamond earrings, electronics, $8,000 worth of gift cards and designer handbags and shoes. Pierre's 2005 Mercedes was impounded as part of the investigation.

Pierre is also a suspect in numerous other thefts around Westchester and remains under investigation for possible involvement in additional crimes.
