Taxi crashes in front of St. Pat's

April 9, 2009 2:02:12 PM PDT
An out-of-control taxi cab careened onto the sidewalk in front of St. Patrick's Cathedral this afternoon -- but miraculously, no one was hit. The cab careened jumped the curb in front of the cathedral on Fifth Avenue just before 1 p.m. It came to a rest at the first step of the cathedral.

Although there were crowds at the cathedral attending Holy Thursday services, no pedestrians were struck.

The driver was checked out, but was not injured. The taxi cab was pushed off the sidewalk.

The cause of the mishap is under investigation.
