Paterson seeks lawmaker action on MTA

ALBANY, N.Y. Paterson wants both houses of the state legislature to return to session on Monday and vote on a proposed MTA bailout.

If Albany can not come up with a deal, commuters will be hit with 23% fare hikes and massive service cuts starting June 1.

Paterson says it's the duty of legislators to come to the rescue.

Lawmakers suggest a payroll tax to help close the budget gap.

Governor Paterson's revised payroll tax plan calls for reimbursing school districts already hit hard by property taxes.
