Witnesses told police that the suspect began stabbing the two people over and over again, and their screams echoed throughout the park.
The 23-year-old woman died at Lincoln Hospital.
FDNY says she was stabbed multiple times in the chest.
The man is also at Lincoln Hospital recovering from a stab wound to the arm. He is not likely to die, police said.
