Ex-NYPD cop charged in bank robbery

HUNTINGTON STATION Suffolk County police say a man entered the bank, located at 693 East Jericho Turnpike in Huntington Station, and approached a teller with a note demanding cash and threatening the use of a gun if the teller did not comply.

The teller handed over cash from the drawer.

The robber then fled the bank, heading north, and was followed by a bank employee. The employee saw the robber get into a vehicle in the Waldbaum's parking lot on Jericho Turnpike and was able to obtain a description of the suspect and the vehicle. A broadcast notification was made to police officers.

A vehicle fitting the description was spotted at Jericho Turnpike and East Deer Park Avenue in Dix Hills, and 47-year-old Thomas Feeney, of mithtown, was arrested. Feeney, who was carrying a loaded .38-caliber pistol in his waistband, retired from the NYPD on disability in 1994.
