Pedestrian hit twice

NEW YORK (AP) The victim was hit while crossing Third Avenue near East 140th Street around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

They say the first car was heading north when it ran into the woman and knocked her into southbound traffic, where a minivan hit her and dragged her. It's not immediately clear how far.

Police say the 20-year-old driver minivan driver fled the accident scene but later turned himself in. He has been arrested on charges of drunken driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

Police haven't identified the first car or its driver.
