Mixed finish on Wall Street

NEW YORK Stock indicators barely budged this week after big gains last week. A recent crop of better-than-expected economic news is becoming a bit stale after the Standard & Poor's index surged 40 percent from a 12-year low in early March on growing hopes for an economic recovery.

According to early calculations, the Dow Jones industrial average is up 28 to 8,799 at the end of trading Friday. The S&P 500 index is up 1 to 946, and the Nasdaq is down 4 to 1,859.

Three stocks rose for every two that fell on the New York Stock Exchange, where volume came to 858 million shares versus 1.2 billion Thursday.
