NJ teacher charged in sex with student

A southern New Jersey teacher accused of having a four-month sexual relationship with a 14-year-old student has been suspended with pay. Michael Drebes, a 37-year-old Millville resident, was arrested just days after he allegedly took the teen and a former female student - who is now 16 - to a Cape May hotel for sex over the Memorial Day weekend. Authorities say they learned of the relationship after receiving a tip from a student who knew the younger girl.

Drebes, a math teacher at Memorial High School who has taught in the Millville school system for five years, faces numerous sexual assault and child endangerment charges in three counties, and further charges may be filed.

He remained jailed Saturday on $500,000 bail.
