Giuliani, sounding political, speaks in NYC

NEW YORK At a Manhattan appearance Thursday, the former New York City mayor discussed President Barack Obama's policies and his own ideas for fixing the nation's economy. Other subjects included the economic and political problems in New York state.

Giuliani has remained coy about his plans. Republicans are pushing him as a possible candidate for governor.

A poll in May showed Giuliani gaining ground on Democrat Attorney General Andrew Cuomo in a theoretical 2010 matchup.

The Quinnipiac poll had Cuomo leading 47 percent to 41 percent. That was down from a 17-point spread in April. It said either could defeat Democratic Gov. David Paterson.
