Gotti annoys judge with comment

NEW YORK He spoke as he stood to face two dozen prospective jurors at the start of jury selection Monday for his murder and racketeering trial.

The trial is Gotti's fourth in four years. Three other trials ended in mistrials.

As he was introduced Monday, he said: "Good morning. I am John Gotti and here I am again."

Federal Judge Kevin Castel said he believed Gotti's comment was "undoubtedly innocent." But Castel said he did not want other references to earlier trials to come up without his permission.

The son of notorious Gambino boss John Gotti says he quit the mob in the 1990s. The elder Gotti died in 2002.
