Witnesses say he ran out of the apartment screaming "My mom is dead."
Police say the boyfriend hit her in the head with an unknown object and she slashed him in the throat, likely in self-defense.
They were both rushed to Jamaica Hospital where she is in critical condition. He is listed in stable condition.
Charges were pending.
