Yonkers politician accused of accepting bribes

WHITE PLAINS U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara announced the indictment Wednesday of former councilwoman Sandy Annabi and two others on bribery, corruption and extortion charges.

Annabi had originally opposed the real estate projects, including a $685 million retail development known as Ridge Hill.

But Bharara says she switched her votes under the influence of more than $166,000 in payments arranged by her co-defendants.

Also charged are Zehy Jereis, the former head of the Yonkers Republican Party, and Anthony Mangone, a Westchester County attorney.

Annabi's lawyer says her client is innocent.
