Woman found dead in car submerged in pool

WEST NYACK Her family had been looking for her all night long, only to find her early Wednesday morning dead in her car, submerged in the family's backyard pool.

The victim's husband is with the NYPD, and the couple's son is a Clarkstown police officer. Authorities say father and son went to hockey game Tuesday night, but couldn't find 52-year-old Marianne Bax when they returned home. The car was reportedly missing.

The family called police when she didn't return by morning, but then noticed that the ice on the pool was broken. It was then that they saw the white car submerged in the pool, with the Marianne still inside.

Faint tire tracks could be seen on the lawn leading to the pool, and a chain link fence was run down. Police believe the car traveled in reverse across the grass, through the fence and into the pool.

Authorities are awaiting the results of an autopsy and are checking the car for mechincal problems.
