HACKENSACK, N.J. --
DNA collected from a man convicted of shoplifting razor blades and cold medicine helped crack a 1982 murder in New Jersey. Angelo Speziale pleaded guilty to felony murder of his 19-year-old Ridgefield Park neighbor. The 49-year-old agreed to serve half of a 30-year sentence before he'll be eligible for parole.
Michele Mika was sexually assaulted and stabbed five times in her family's home.
Speziale was initially questioned in the case.
His DNA was entered into a national database in 2005 following his shoplifting conviction. Backlogs in processing prevented investigators from getting results for two years.
