LI high school closed due to asbestos

Syosset Senior High School on Long Island was evacuated and closed due to the discovery of asbestos in the school. The Superintendent's office says the school will remained closed until April 7. The students were scheduled off for spring break next week.

The following statement was released by the school district.

"The High School, effective at 11:00 AM is being evacuated due to the discovery at asbestos and will remain closed until Wednesday, April 7th.

Students will be dismissed by bus and/or own transportation. For those students who need to remain, they will be housed in South Woods Middle School until the end of the school day. All parent teacher conferences are cancelled for this evening and will be rescheduled. All after school and weekend activities are cancelled at the High School."
