Yonkers principal calls for more security

A Yonkers principal said that his students are out of control, and that he and his staff fear for their safety. Emerson Middle School Principal Robert Riccuiti said that he has been assaulted four times in the past month.

In the most recent incident, which was on Friday, he had to be carried out of the school by paramedics. The student involved was arrested.

Riccuiti said that the school's two safety officers are not enough to keep order in the 850-student school, which used to be staffed with four safety officers plus a Yonkers police officer.

He said that he has complained to district officials about the security issue, and that he's now being forced to go public with the problem.
