Arrest made in fatal shooting of New Jersey teen

ORANGE, New Jersey Eric Brown is accused of killing 16-year-old Swamaiya White and wounding 18-year-old Myron Fulton in Orange Thursday night.

Brown was arrested for violating the State of New Jersey's weapon and narcotic laws. Police say he was found to be in possession of a semi-automatic handgun loaded with three rounds of ammunition and 13 clear zip lock bags of crack cocaine.

White was found fatally shot in the area of Valley and Argyle streets. She was pronounced dead on the scene, while Fulton suffered a gunshot wound to the thigh.

Friends of Swamaiya gathered to remember her. They say she was a sophomore in high school who lived her life with a smile. She lived with her foster family several blocks away from the crime scene.

"She was bright, she was joyful, she always kept a smile on her face. She had many friends around the neighborhood," said the victim's cousin, Doreen Austin. "She probably got mixed up in the wrong crowd."
