Police say the 18-month-old boy fell into an in-ground pool on Finlay Street just before 10 a.m.
The toddler was rushed to Staten Island University Hospital South in critical condition.
It was not clear how long the boy was in the pool.
Police say it appears he was at his grandmother's house and wandered over to the pool and fell it.
Police believe it was an accident.
