Cars broken into outside movie theater

WESTBURY, NY

It's just about everyone's favorite summer pastime, but imagine watching a movie and finding out the real action is taking place in the parking lot.

"I think that's horrible, you feel like seeing a movie is safe," a moviegoer said.

Police say it happened this week.

People who came for an evening of entertainment at a movie theater in Westbury ended up getting ripped off.

"I think that's horrendous, so disappointing," another moviegoer said.

Investigators say the thieves struck 9 cars in one night.

They smashed windows and got away with electronics, like iPods and cell phones and cameras.

They took anything that could be sold on the street.

Police are advising people to be cautious.

Anthony Baker Pennant had no idea, but after we broke the news, he carried his computer into the theater.

One guy paid a steep price for watching two movies in a row.

He came out and his car was gone.

Police are now stepping up patrols in the area and asking anyone with information to give then a call in Westbury.
