MTA set to lay off station agents Friday

Hundreds of MTA agents are spending their last days on the job.The MTA is set to lay off 202 station agents and close 44 token booths across the city Friday.

The layoffs were originally blocked by a judge last June.

Agency estimates indicate keeping the workers on the job cost the agency $49,000 a day in wages and benefits.
