Arrest made in liquor store murder

BROOKLYN

Police say 33-year-old Eion Klass was arrested on charges of first and second degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

The victim, 34-year-old Yosef Robinson, was gunned down by a masked man last week while trying to protect his girlfriend.

It happened last Thursday in Midwood.

The New York Daily News reports that Klass was left alone in a room unhandcuffed at the 70th Precinct station house Tuesday when he tried to escape.

He was quickly stopped.

Iinvestigators charged Klass with Robinson's murder Wednesday afternoon.

Klass was picked up by detectives, who learned his name and vehicle license plate number through tips.

Detectives linked the suspect's voice through the survivor of the robbery, Robinson's girlfriend.

She was a so-called ear-witness, who heard the suspect demand her jewelry. However, the gunman was wearing a mask, so she never saw his face.

Robinson left his hip-hop career behind to convert to Judaism.

Hundreds of residents flooded the streets of Borough Park, Brooklyn, Monday night to remember Robinson.

He will be buried this Thursday in Jamaica, next to his grandmother.
