Jailed ex-NJ senator faces new federal charges

NEWARK

Former Sen. Wayne Bryant and attorney Eric Wisler were indicted Monday by the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York.

The indictment alleges that Wisler paid Bryant's law firm $192,000 to ensure Bryant's support for development projects.

They include a $1.2 billion redevelopment of Camden's Cramer Hill neighborhood and a failed Meadowlands golf course project.

Wisler's lawyer, Michael Critchley, says his client denies the allegations.

Bryant lawyer Carl Poplar did not return a phone message.

Bryant is serving four years after being convicted of steering millions in state grants to a public university in exchange for a low-show job.
