The MTA is looking to put surveillance cameras in its buses starting next year.

This week, the agency will ask its board to approve a plan to install cameras in 400 buses.

The cameras will go first on buses in Manhattan, then other boroughs.

The MTA wants the option to buy an additional 1,500 cameras.

The new system will cost roughly $18,000 per bus.
