NYPD releases surveillance video in jewelry heist

NEW YORK

They pulled the shutters at Ultra Diamond Outlet, the store within the Burlington Coat Factory that was closed today following the daring heist.

Like a scene right out of movie, the three thieves methodically moved through the jewelry cases, scooping up as much of the expensive pieces as they can.

The heist took place in the late afternoon on Christmas day.

"It was really nice. Some of their pieces are really expensive so I'm not really surprised they got robbed, especially around the holidays," said Angela Rodriguez.

The thieves, police say gained access around the corner at 100 west 23rd street and managed to knock a hole in a wall.

All three climbed into the jewelry store where they apparently worked for a considerable amount of time without being detected.

They can be seen in this surveillance video pulling expensive rings from cases, and Eyewitness News has learned they got away with over half a million dollars in jewelry.

Police ask anyone with any information about the robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 800 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
