Metro-North ticket machines broken

People traveling on Metro-North commuter trains this weekend might want to bring along some cash, after automatic payment machines broke down in most stations.

MTA Metro-North spokesman Salvatore Arena said machines at all stations except Grand Central Terminal that normally accept credit and debit cards were not working on Friday. He said efforts to repair them were expected to continue through the weekend.

Arena said higher onboard fees are being waived while the machines are broken, but commuters should be prepared to buy tickets with cash.
