Suspect in East Coast rapes due back in court

NEW HAVEN, Conn.

/*Aaron Thomas*/ is scheduled to appear Friday in /*New Haven*/ Superior Court.

Thomas has been held since his March 4 arrest on rape and other charges in New Haven. Authorities say DNA confirms he's responsible for rapes and other attacks on 17 women from Virginia to Connecticut. He's charged with three rapes in Virginia and one in Connecticut.

Thomas has pleaded not guilty in Connecticut.

Assistant State's Attorney Stacey Haupt says Thomas likely will face trial in New Haven on a first-degree sexual assault allegation before he's tried in Virginia.
