Quitting smoking linked to weight gain

Yale University scientists believed they've figured out why people who give up smoking suddenly pack on the pounds.

In a report in the Journal of Science, they say nicotine is to blame.

It activates a receptor in the region of the brain that controls appetite.

Researchers say it rev up the cells that would ordinarily tell a person to stop eating when they are full.
