Police search for two fake cops in Rye Brook

RYE BROOK, N.Y.

The two men were in a white Ford Taurus when they pulled over a car on Rock Ridge Drive around 4 a.m. Wednesday.

The victims got out of their vehicle and were patted down by the suspects.

The fake cops asked the victims for ID, so they handed over their wallets.

The men went back into the car, pretended to write tickets, came back and handed the wallets back to the victims and drove away.

Money from inside the wallets was then missing.

The suspects are described as white men in their late teens or early 20's.

Police say that if a car tries to pull you over and you're suspicious because there are no police markings on the car, don't pull over.

Go to a well lit populated area first.

Don't get out of the car, ask to see ID, and request a supervisor come to the scene.
