There are new concerns about traffic as crews work to extend bicycle lanes on the East Side.

The city is extending the bike lanes on First and Second avenues from 34th to 59th streets.

The project started this week.

The transportation department says it expects the job to take two months.

The chairman of Community Board Six says the new lanes will remove more than 70 parking spots from the avenues.
