Carjacking starts 100-foot geyser in L.A.

LOS ANGELES

Firefighters tried to shut off the geyser for more than two hours. It eventually ended up soaking homes and flooding an entire /*Los Angeles*/ neighborhood.

Investigators say that a man stole a car at knifepoint, and then struck two vehicles. After hitting the second vehicle, a van, the driver drove up the curb and knocked over a fire hydrant, which started the geyser.

In all, three homes were damaged, and one family had to be evacuated and spend the night in a Red Cross hotel.
