Woman arrested for leaving child unattended in hot vehicle

Suffolk County Police arrested a woman who left her 1-year-old daughter unattended in a car in a Huntington parking lot.

A woman on Long Island has been arrested and charged with leaving her child in an unattended car in a Huntington parking lot.

Police say 26-year-old Aimee Rachlin is accused of leaving her 1-year-old daughter in an unlocked car in the parking lot of the Big H Shopping Center.

When officers arrived to the car after receiving a 911 call, they found the girl profusely sweating. The engine was off and the windows were slightly cracked.

Police say the vehicle was parked in direct sunlight and the girl was left alone for approximately 15 minutes.

Rachlin and her daughter were taken to the 2nd precinct. The mother was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

The child was given fruit and water and was not injured.

Rachlin was released on Bail. The daughter was released to Rachlin.
