New bail try for mom in son's NYC hotel death

NEW YORK

Gigi Jordan's lawyers filed a petition Monday asking a civil court to grant a $6 million bail and house arrest package. A criminal court judge denied the same proposal last month.

Jordan's petition says the criminal court didn't give proper consideration to her security proposals. They include armed guards and electronic monitoring.

Prosecutors have opposed Jordan's release. They and city officials declined to comment on the petition. For legal reasons, it's directed at city jail officials.

Jordan says she felt justified in killing her son and tried to kill herself in February 2010 to save them both from people she feared were after them.
