Study: Flu shots keeps kids out of ER

NEW YORK

Children between 2 and 4 years old are a major source of spreading the flu.

A new study found that vaccinating preschoolers cut the number of visits to the ER by a third for flu-like symptoms.

Researchers believe giving kids flu shots most likely cut the spread to older siblings, or motivated families to vaccinate other children as well.

The Centers for Disease Control recommends that everyone older than 6 months get a flu shot.
