Police say the two victims were walking in Roberto Clemente Park in Paterson when they were jumped, robbed and shot Monday night.
A 17-year-old was killed, while a 15-year-old is recovering at the hospital.
The incident happened around 9 p.m., while the teens were headed home. Police say four suspects approached them and robbed them at gunpoint. The men stole a small amount of cash and two cell phones, and then, for an unknown reason, opened fire.
The 17-year-old was shot several times and was pronounced dead in the park. The 15-year-old was shot in the arm, and his injuries are considered non life-threatening.
