People living in Midwood woke up Friday to cars set on fire and swastikas spray painted on the vehicles, a building and benches.
Kings County District Attorney Charles Hynes says police have recovered 27 beer bottles and are testing them for DNA.
Midwood neighbors awoke on Friday to explosions and fire; cars burning along Ocean Parkway between Avenues I and J.
When the fire was finally put out, another message came into focus.
KKK spray painted on a van and anti-Semitic slurs left on park benches.
As police search for the people behind the fire bombings and the hate-filled graffiti, District Attorney Hynes believes the timing of this attack was not a coincidence.
Whoever did this, he says, intended to make a statement.
After the disturbance Friday morning, the predominantly Jewish neighborhood of Midwood would quietly observe the Sabbath. Their peaceful resumption of life sending a message as the District Attorney sent one of his own.
"We're not going to tolerate this in Kings County or anywhere else in the city," Hynes said.
Other recent incidents of vandalism involving swastikas occurred November 4th in Queens at a synagogue and two libraries.
