Authorities say the mother of a 9-year-old child at St. Eugene's School called police Wednesday afternoon to report that another student had displayed a handgun to her child on December 1.
The victim reportedly told police that the 10-year-old boy had opened a backpack and showed off what appeared to be a handgun. Several days later, the victim said the same student passed a threatening note.
Investigators questioned the boy and found that he had brought his father's .38-caliber handgun to school. The father reported has a valid Westchester County permit for the weapon.
The boy was charged with second-degree menacing and first-degree harassment.
