Track inspector spots body in Hudson River

February 8, 2012 11:14:25 AM PST
The Metro-North Railroad says a track inspector has spotted a body in the Hudson River in the New York suburbs.

Spokeswoman Marjorie Anders says a boat was dispatched to pick up the corpse just off the Irvington shore.

There's been no identification yet. Anders says even the sex is not yet known.

She says the inspector was walking the tracks along the river Wednesday afternoon when he saw the body.

Irvington police say they've been called to the scene but have no further information.

Anders said the train schedule is unaffected.
