Gas prices move 3 cents higher on Turnpike, GSP

RIDGEFIELD, NJ

Gas prices jumped three cents on Friday for drivers who fill up on the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway.

The price is now $3.639 a gallon for regular gas. Middle grade went up four cents to $3.819 a gallon, and premium increased four cents to $3.929 per gallon.

Regular gas has increased 10 cents in the past two weeks.

Gas prices only increase once a week on the two highways, maintained by the New Jersey Turnpike Authority.

The Authority surveys 100 gas stations, located off the highway, every Wednesday and Thursday to determine an average statewide price, and implements the increases Friday morning.

The service area per-gallon cost cannot be more than 3 cents above that average price.
