Man arrested after allegedly assaulting wife, taking baby

NEW YORK

Police in /*Queens*/ were called after a 30-year-old woman said her husband tried to strangle her and then ran off with their 1-year-old child.

The suspect, 30-year-old Alex Torres, also took the family iPhone.

Officers used the "find my iPhone app" to track him down near /*Stuvesant Town*/.

Torres, a Department of Education employee, is charged with assault and child endangerment.

The officers involved (pictured) have been identified as Lieutenant James Lombardi, Sergeant Peter Cassiere and Officer Maritza Mendez.
