The NYPD released video of the incident, which happened just before 11 a.m. on May 19 on Monroe Avenue in the Tremont section.
The suspect grabbed the 54-year-old woman and wrestled her to the ground.
Police say the suspect took of with the victim's purse.
The suspect is described as black male with braided hair. He was also wearing eyeglasses.
