MONROE

Flags will fly at half-staff Wednesday in the state of New York in memory of a soldier who died last week in Afghanistan.

Authorities say 36-year-old Major Paul C. Voelke, of /*Monroe*/, died on Friday from non-combat related injuries.

He was in the middle of his second deployment to Afghanistan and had served two previous tours in Iraq.

Voelke, a member of the Third Infantry division, leaves behind a wife and two children.
