Waterpark mishap leaves six people hurt

VERNON

Mountain Creek spokesman Bill Benneyan tells the New Jersey Herald that the accident occurred around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday on the park's Gauley ride. Benneyan said the injured riders were on tubes that ran into one another and became stuck at the mouth of a dark tunnel on the ride.

Benneyan said park staffers got the five riders - identified only as four adults and a female teenager - off the ride in about 20 minutes. He said they suffered bumps, bruises and abrasions.

The ride will be shut down until state investigators can inspect it, to ensure it's safe
