The Chatsworth, on Manhattan's Upper West Side, is a distinctive Beaux Arts building on 72nd Street near Riverside Park. It has 139 apartment units, half of which are rent stabilized. One of its famous residents was Irving Berlin.
The Wall Street Journal reports it could sell for more than $150 million.
Its tenants once sued Donald Trump when one of his towers threatened to block their views.
The building went up during a luxury apartment boom in the city that started in the late 1890s. It has been owned by the same family for decades.
