Teen tweet sparks alarm, but police say it's a hoax

CLARK

"She is still missing at this point in time. We have detectives following up on numerous leads," /*Clark*/ Police Chief Alan Scherb said.

Her name is /*Kara Alongi*/. What set off the firestorm of reaction was a tweet sent around 6:00 p.m. on Sunday night: "There is someone in my hour ecall 911." Police believe that is supposed to read "There is someone in my house. Call 911."

Her cry for help resulted in a community rallying and police launching a full investigation, but they believe the tweet was a hoax. Clark's police chief says she took a taxi from her home a short time after the tweet.

"She did enter a taxi from her residence, voluntarily and alone, and was taken to the Rahway train station and dropped off,"

He says they have no reasons to believe that she is in danger.
