A driver noticed a woman leaning against the center median on westbound Sunrise Highway near Jerome Avenue.
The driver turned around to check on the woman, but by then other drivers had stopped and found the woman lying dead in the left lane.
Police have identified her as Jennifer Wheeler, from /*North Lindenhurst*/.
Her family asked Eyewitness News for privacy.
