Though he was mopping as fast as he could, Angel Rodriguez said he felt like he was fighting a losing battle.
Both his kitchen and living room were flooded again.
"Very frustrating. I've been dealing with this for a while. I moved in and two months after I moved in I had the same kind of puddle you have behind you. I try to keep up, you know, pick up the water, but it's just too much," Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez said this was the third time in the 11 years he's lived in the apartment in the Governor Morris Houses that he's found himself ankle deep in water.
A giant puddle on the roof top is apparently the source of Rodriguez's trouble.
The standing pool appears to be caused by runoff from a water tower that sits right over Rodriguez's 20th floor unit.
He shot cell phone video as the water rushed from the tower and ultimately into his living room.
"I don't want to stay in the apartment, I have to. I can't find anything that's within this price range," Rodriguez said.
Last year, Rodriguez took the New York City Housing Authority to civil court and got the repairs he was demanding.
NYCHA, so far, has refused to comment on this recent flooding citing privacy rules.
Mop in hand, Rodriguez has one simple wish.
"I would like them to move me. That's it. I mean, they need to fix the place if they're going to rent it, but I would like them to move me. I've dealt with this for 11 years. I think it's time," Rodriguez said.
