Suspect in Brooklyn attempted rape caught on camera

NEW YORK

Police say the man in the video tried to rape a woman as she left a subway station last Thursday night.

The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. at the Bedford-Nostrand Avenue station on the G line.

Police say the man offered to help the 21-year-old woman get her bags to the street then attacked her on a stairway.

She screamed, and he fled the scene.

The suspect is described as a black male, about 5-foot-9 and weighing 150 to 160 pounds.

The surveillance video shows the suspect at the Hoyt and Schermerhorn Street subway station.
