LIPA officials have approved a 30 cents a month increase to help recover expenses from Superstorm Sandy.

The plan will collect $80-million from customers over 10 years.

The new rates begin next year.

LIPA is also counting on FEMA to pick up 90 percent of the $806-million in costs from Sandy.
