World Trade Center touts planned observation deck

NEW YORK

The view alone is magnificent. High above New York, this will become again one of the most treasured sights from One World Trade Center.

The One World Observatory will occupy the tower's 100th through 102nd floors, and elevators will whisk visitors to the top in just one minute. The experience of visiting the attraction, however, will take an hour.

Unveiling the deck Tuesday, the Port Authority enters into a public-private partnership with Legend Hospitality.

Legend will operate the three story full sky view site at the top of the center.

"We fully recognize what this building stands for," said Legends CEO Dave Checketts. "The honor that comes along with such a project, and the responsibility one would take on in operating it."

More than just the view, which is spectacular from the 100th floor, they are hoping this is more than just a visit for your family, but rather, an experience.

Port Authority Chairman David Samson and other officials say guests to the observation deck will see a "pre-show" about the creation of the building while they wait in line in the lobby.

There will be another video at the top, before the actual panoramic view is revealed.

Visitors will first be given a history of the site and hear too from those who are building One World Trade.

They will then be rushed skyward in a 'skypod' that will take them 1400 feet in just a minute.

And on the 102nd floor, they will then take in the full sensory experience of a breathtaking view.

There will be also be restaurants and gift shops. The cost of the tour has not been determined.
